Palworld Online: New Palworld MMORPG for iOS & Android (2026)

Palworld Online is a new Palworld MMORPG from Garena for iOS and Android, coming in 2026. Here's what we know about gameplay, platforms, and story.

Games

Pocketpair is expanding the Palworld universe with a new Palworld MMORPG called Palworld Online, developed by Garena under an official license. Announced on August 3, 2026, the game is heading to iOS and Android sometime in 2026, with some reports suggesting it could arrive before the end of the year. It's a separate project from the previously announced Krafton mobile game, so players will have two distinct mobile Palworld experiences to watch.

What Is Palworld Online?

Palworld Online is described as an open-world MMORPG that "reimagines the depth, freedom, and scale of the original PC survival creature-collecting title for mobile." Garena, the developer behind the project, is known for its work on mobile games and will handle global publishing, localization, and live operations. Pocketpair CEO Takura Mizobe said, "Garena has extensive experience in global publishing, localisation, and live operations for mobile games. We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online."

The game will keep the series' core loop: capturing Pals, building bases, crafting, and collecting creatures. But it's also adding MMO-style features, including co-op, PvP, and PvE modes. The announcement emphasizes a "seamless open world," which suggests players can explore without loading screens—a key feature for a mobile MMO.

New Story and Expanded Lore

One of the most interesting additions is the narrative. Palworld Online will introduce a "new narrative setting with original story elements" and expand the lore with side stories created exclusively for this version. That means it's not just a straight port of the original game; it's a fresh take that builds on the existing world. For fans who've already spent hours in the PC version, this could offer a reason to jump into the mobile experience.

Platform and Release Timing

Palworld Online is confirmed for iOS and Android, but there's no specific release date yet. The announcement says "later this year," and Kotaku's headline suggests it could arrive in less than four months. However, it's wise to temper expectations—mobile game delays are common, and Pocketpair hasn't committed to a firm date. If it does launch in 2026, it could beat the Palfarm spin-off, which was announced last year and also lacks a release date.

The mobile focus might raise eyebrows. Forbes notes that "mobile" can make many wince, as these projects often target the Asian market where the genre is more popular. But there's no reason it can't succeed in the West, especially given Palworld's massive Steam numbers after its 1.0 launch. The original game put up "enormous numbers on Steam," and while console numbers aren't tracked as easily, the momentum is clearly there.

Touch-Friendly Design

Garena is promising a "streamlined, touch-friendly interface with optional one-tap controls" for base management. That's a smart move—base building in Palworld can be complex, and adapting it to mobile screens requires careful design. The one-tap option could make managing your base less tedious on a phone, while still offering deeper controls for those who want them.

What's Still Unknown

Several details remain under wraps. There's no word on new maps or new Pals, and microtransactions are a big question mark. The original Palworld has no microtransactions, but mobile games often rely on them. Garena hasn't confirmed anything, so it's too early to say whether Palworld Online will follow the premium model or adopt a free-to-play approach with in-app purchases.

We also don't know how the MMO elements will work in practice. Will there be large-scale raids? Guild systems? The announcement mentions co-op, PvP, and PvE, but specifics are scarce. Given Garena's experience with live-operated games, it's likely we'll see seasonal content and events, but that's speculation.

Why This Matters

Palworld Online represents a significant step for Pocketpair. The original game was a surprise hit, and expanding to mobile with a licensed developer is a common strategy to reach a wider audience. It also shows confidence in the brand's longevity. If Palworld Online captures the same magic as the PC version, it could become a major player in the mobile MMO space.

For now, players on iOS and Android will have to wait for more details. In the meantime, if you're curious about other creature-collecting adventures, check out our hands-on with Beast of Reincarnation, which offers a different take on the genre. And for more on how technology is shaping gaming, our piece on wearable tech and AI in sports shows how similar innovations are crossing into other fields.

Palworld Online is shaping up to be a major release, but until we get concrete details on monetization, content, and a firm launch date, it's best to stay cautiously optimistic. The potential is there, and with Garena's track record, it could be a standout mobile MMO.
