Stephen Curry Pitches LeBron James to Join Warriors: NBA Free Agency Rumors

Stephen Curry publicly pitches LeBron James to join the Golden State Warriors on Good Morning America, citing winning culture, Bay Area weather, and golf. Warriors among multiple suitors for the 41-year-old star.

Stephen Curry made his pitch public this week. Appearing on Good Morning America, the Golden State Warriors star laid out his case for why LeBron James should sign with the Warriors in free agency. “The Bay, we know how to win, it's beautiful weather, great golf, and I know he's into that,” Curry said. He added that James would “enjoy just the idea of what it means to finish your career the right way.”

The pitch comes as James, 41 and entering his 24th season, fields inquiries from multiple teams. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Warriors are one of five teams still in the running, with “a focus” on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers. The Minnesota Timberwolves are also in the mix, and the Denver Nuggets have been mentioned as a suitor.

Curry acknowledged that the idea of James joining the Warriors was a “pipe dream” two to three years ago, but now sees it as a unique opportunity. The Warriors have made trade overtures for James over the last two trade deadlines, and the presence of Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr makes Golden State an intriguing option.

Curry isn't the only Warrior working on James. Draymond Green said on his podcast that he pitched James during a recent golf trip to Puerto Rico. “I'd be remiss if I don't take the opportunity to throw my pitch in there… Of course I did that and of course the pitch was crazy. I think I'm pretty decent at it,” Green said.

The recruitment has unfolded across traditional media appearances and podcast episodes, not through slick video pitches or social media campaigns. Curry's appearance on Good Morning America and Green's podcast comments are the primary channels. This is a reminder that even in an era of digital everything, the most effective recruiting tools remain personal relationships and public persuasion.

Curry spoke to the press at the American Century Championship golf tournament, a setting that blends his love for golf with his day job. The Warriors have been connected to James for the longest time among his suitors, and the team has made overtures at the last two trade deadlines to pair him with his longtime rival turned friend and Team USA teammate.

While a return to Cleveland is the expectation of many, Philadelphia has become an intriguing option with Jaylen Brown now on the roster alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. The Warriors remain an intriguing option because of the presence of Curry, Green, and Kerr.

As James continues to weigh his options, the Warriors' pitch is clear: finish your career the right way, in a winning environment, with friends. Whether that's enough to lure him from Cleveland, Miami, or Philadelphia remains to be seen.
