WNBA All-Star Weekend 2026: Obama Center Brings New Energy Beyond the Standings

The Obama Presidential Center hosts WNBA All-Star events, offering fans a deeper connection beyond the wnba standings. Explore the community and leadership focus.

Sports

While fans pore over the WNBA schedule and track their favorite teams in the wnba standings, the league is gearing up for its biggest showcase of the season. The 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend, set for July 24-25 in Chicago, isn't just about the game on the court—it's about creating immersive experiences that go beyond the box score. And this year, a historic new venue is taking center stage: the Obama Presidential Center.

The recently opened Obama Presidential Center will host several WNBA All-Star events on July 24, marking the first time a professional sports league has held major events at the Jackson Park campus. According to the league's announcement, the center's 60,000-square-foot athletic facilities and regulation court will be used for All-Star media day and an open practice. The Obama Center will also host WNBA Changemaker Day and Jr. WNBA Day, events designed to empower women in business and connect girls with basketball fundamentals.

"Hosting AT&T WNBA All-Star events at the Obama Presidential Center is a true honor and reflects our commitment to creating connections through basketball and engaging communities in meaningful ways," WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a news release. Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation, echoed that sentiment, noting that the partnership aligns with the center's mission of using sports as a vehicle for leadership and community-building. "We are thrilled to welcome the WNBA as our first professional sports league hosted at the Obama Presidential Center," Jarrett said.

The All-Star Game itself will be played July 25 at the United Center, while the 3-point contest and skills challenge take place July 24 at Wintrust Arena. But the Obama Center events on July 24 offer fans a rare opportunity to engage with the league beyond the wnba standings. For example, the WNBA Changemaker Day will bring together league sponsors, the Chicago Sky, Chicago Public Schools, and the Girls Opportunity Alliance for leadership panels and activities. Jr. WNBA Day will feature basketball clinics, leadership panels, STEM activities, and vision-board workshops—an immersive experience that goes far deeper than what a typical game day provides.

This focus on community and leadership underscores how the WNBA is building a fan experience that resonates on multiple levels. Whether you're checking the wnba standings to see how your team ranks or attending events like these, the league is investing in moments that foster lasting connections. For fans in Chicago and beyond, the Obama Center events add a new dimension to All-Star Weekend—one that combines basketball with inspiration.

As the league continues to grow, events like these remind us that the WNBA is more than just a game. It's about creating memorable experiences for players and fans alike, all while keeping the competition sharp. So enjoy the All-Star festivities, and keep an eye on the wnba standings as the season resumes—there's plenty more action ahead.
