Search for Sandy Scott Barron: Missing Man in Perthshire, Scotland | Police Appeal

Police appeal for help finding Sandy Scott Barron, 37, missing from Aberdeenshire since July 18. His car was found abandoned in Perthshire. Call 101 ref 2645.

Law and Government

Police in Perthshire, Scotland are appealing for information to trace a missing Aberdeenshire man whose car was found abandoned on a remote track. The search for Sandy Scott Barron continues as officers work to establish his movements. Sandy Scott Barron, 37, from Inverbervie, was last heard from by his family on July 18. His black Dacia Duster, registration SD67 SXG, was discovered unoccupied on a track off the B846 between Tummel Bridge and Foss around 5:30pm on July 22.

Specialist search officers are now working in the area, and police believe Barron may be travelling on foot. CCTV footage captured him and his car in Aberfeldy on Sunday, July 19. Officers have established that he was seen on foot south of Dunalastair Water — between where his car was found and Kinloch Rannoch — between 4:30pm and 8:30pm on Wednesday, July 22.

Appeal for Information

Inspector James Longden said: “We are grateful to everyone who has helped with our efforts to trace Sandy so far and I would urge anyone who may have seen or spoken to him to get in touch as a matter of urgency. We believe he is travelling on foot after leaving his car near to Foss and it is possible he may have also attempted to hitchhike.”

Sergeant Colin Duff, of Perth Police Station, added: “We are working to establish Sandy’s movements, and I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen him or his black Dacia Duster at any point in recent days to get in touch as a matter of urgency. From enquiries carried out so far, it is possible he may have travelled in the direction of Kinloch Rannoch.”

Description and Appeal to Residents

Barron is described as white, around 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with short brown hair. His clothing is unknown, but he is believed to have last been wearing dark clothing. Given the rural nature of the area, Inspector Longden urged local residents with sheds or outbuildings where someone might seek shelter to check them for any signs of use.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 2645 of July 22, 2026.
